Online NIC was incorporated in the United States in 1999, and functions as the external registrar arm of Xiamen-based parent, China Channel. The latter was established in China in 1996 to provide network solutions for e-trade and was the first Asian Premium Partner Registrar of NSI to be ICANN accredited in 1998. It is now China's top DNS registrar and is one of the largest provider of China's e-commerce platforms. Since beginning service as an Internet service provider in 1995, interQ Inc. has developed three main services with their non-member program "interQ ORIGINAL", member program "interQ MEMBERS", and corporate program "interQ OFFICE". In 1999, interQ Inc. became the first independent ISP to have publicly traded over-the-counter stock. While becoming the first official registrar in Asia to register domain names with the "onamae.com" service, interQ also concentrated on the potential of email advertising by establishing three advertisement distribution companies: magclick for mail magazines, clickmail for mail between individuals, and FreeML.com for mailing lists.
