History of i-DNS.net
History
Incorporated in 1999, i-DNS.net has emerged as a full service solutions provider in the Domain Name Space, providing turnkey technologies to Internet stakeholder groups at the Registry, Registrar, developer, and end-user levels.
Its flagship-pioneered technology, Internationalized Domain Name System (i-DNS), is the world's first to enable the registration, administration and resolution of domain names and e-mail addresses in any language.
Origins
i-DNS.net had its origins as a research project at the University of Singapore, conducted under the auspices of the Asia-Pacific Networking Group in 1998.
i-DNS was successfully test-bedded over a 6-month period, in collaboration with the Network Information Centers of China, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore. The successful results were presented at 1999's Asia Pacific Regional Internet Conference on Operational Technologies (APRICOT, Singapore) and subsequently at the Annual Internet Society Conference (INET, San Jose) that same year.
Testament
As a testament to its industrial leadership, i-DNS.net is the technology enabler and resolver partner-of-choice to VeriSign Global Registry Services (formerly Network Solutions) Multilingual Domain Name Test-bed.
It is also the Strategic and Technology Partner of choice for Leading Registrars like Global Media Online and Dotsters Inc., etc; and Registries like .com, .net, .org, .ec, .cc (Caicos Islands), .eg (Egypt), .dj (Djibouti), .ai (Anguilla), and .cn (China).
With backing from US and Singapore investors, i-DNS.net International was incorporated in October 1999 to bring this technology to commercial reality.
