Launch Of Chinese Internet Domain Names In The United States
Commercial Partnership between Chinese-DNS.com and i-DNS.net

General, i-DNS.net International, 9 May 2000 -- For the first time in the United States, companies and interested individuals will be able to register and use multilingual domain names, thanks to technology pioneered by i-DNS.net International, a provider of multilingual Internet solutions.

Backed by US-based private equity direct investment firm, General Atlantic Partners LLC, i-DNS.net spearheads development of the Internationalized Domain Name System (i-DNS) - a key enabling technology that supports multilingual domain names and email addressing.

Previously, domain names could only be rendered in Roman or English characters, even in countries that do not use these characters in their written language. i-DNS is built upon Unicode and currently supports more than 55 languages (including Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Spanish, Portuguese and Hebrew), and their respective multiple encoding, to enable greater Internet access for non-English Internet users.

Michael Ng, i-DNS.net Chief Executive Officer said, "We have seen a dramatic increase in the number of websites providing localized content, but until now, non-native English users have had to input unfamiliar alphabets to access these sites. With i-DNS.net technology, we empower people to communicate and do business on the Internet in the language of their choice."

Dr Chao Huang, Chief Executive Officer of Chinese-DNS.com added, "While most Chinese businesses enjoy instant brand recognition for their products, such brand recognition has been difficult to achieve online as the web address has always been in a different language. With the launch of this service, businesses can ensure that their target audience will be able to recognize their brands and access their web pages instantly. For instance, a domain name scripted as will be much more recognizable to Chinese-speaking users then www.nin-jiom.com."

Both executives expressed that the advent of multilingual domain names will empower Internet users to come online, communicate and do business on the Internet regardless of language. They believe that this key enabling technology will expedite the growth of the Internet and e-commerce.

i-DNS complies with Row-Based ASCII Compatible Encoding (RACE) and, being Unicode-base, also fully supports UTF-5, UTF-8, and all other local encoding.
