i-DNS.net’s IDN SDK represents the latest step towards a truly multilingual Internet. In keeping with the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) suggestions of multilingual domain name aware applications, i-DNS.net’s IDN SDK provides the technology necessary for application developers to enable multilingual domain names support in their products.
"i-DNS.net’s IDN SDK provides us with the necessary tools to continue our DNS Management market leadership with enhanced products and services that our customers demand," said Petur Petursson, President of Men & Mice, leading developers of multi-platform DNS and Internet-related software. "We are pleased to be using a SDK product that easily integrates Internationalized Domain Name support into our products."
i-DNS.net’s IDN SDK is currently the only software development kit that supports domain names registered in the VeriSign IDN Testbed and represents the latest step in the continuing innovation between VeriSign and i-DNS.net. In August of 2000, VeriSign and i-DNS.net announced that the latter was providing the technology to enable the registration of multilingual .com, .net and .org. domain names for the VeriSign IDN Testbed. In January 2001, i-DNS.net’s iClientä software was introduced as a core component for using multilingual domain names registered in the VeriSign IDN Testbed.
“One day, all Internet applications and services will support all the languages of the world. Only then will it become truly the global information infrastructure," said Dr Tan Tin Wee, Acting CEO and Founding Member of the Multilingual Internet Names Consortium (MINC). “The i-DNS.net IDN SDK is part of the transformation that will make the Internet linguistically user-friendly.”
i-DNS.net actively participates at the IETF Working Group on IDN (Internationalized Domain Names) to facilitate the exchange of information and experience of operating and administration of multilingual domain name registries with all parties.
i-DNS.net is also a member of the Joint Engineering Taskforce (JET), working together with participating NICs (Network Information Centers) of Korea, China and Taiwan to jointly share technical and engineering experiences with the development and enhancement of mDNKit (Multilingual Domain Name Kit) with JPNIC (Japan Network Information Center). i-DNS.net further commits to ensure interoperability and seamless integration between various IDN technical approaches and solutions.
“At i-DNS.net, we are focused on a single ultimate objective to ensure openness and interoperability of the multilingual DNS technology,” said Michael Ng, CEO of i-DNS.net. “We adopt a global view to ensure full adherence to international standards rather than to develop piece-meal stand-alone local language solutions. We would like to share and contribute to this evolving technology to eventual international standardization, and the IDN SDK is further proof of that philosophy.”
