Troubleshooting
1) I cannot get to the website I want!
Assuming that the website that you want is already using a multilingual domain name, check that the encoding that you have selected in the iClient is the same as the encoding that you are using to type in the URL bar. Remember that the encoding selected must be the same as the encoding that you are using.
2) What is an encoding?
An encoding is the method of mapping characters to a set of values. This allows the computer to understand the language that the user is using as an input method. Examples of encoding are GB and Big5 for the Chinese language, JIS, SJIS and EUC for the Japanese language and KSC5601 for Korean.
3) How do I choose my encoding type?
Left-click on the iClient icon on the taskbar and select the correct encoding for your use.
Note for Windows 2000 users: |
Choose the default language under regional language. For example, a Chinese user has to include either simplified or traditional language in the regional setting.
Go to Control Panel -> Regional Settings -> General -> Language settings for the system. Select from the list of languages, and check the language that is to be used. |
4) iClient does not seem to work on my Windows 95.
If you are using Windows 95 SR1 and see a message that states, "A required .DLL file, WS2_32.DLL, was not found", please follow the instructions on Microsoft Windows Product Page here to upgrade your Winsock version. This enables your Windows 95 to use iClient on Internet Explorer version 4 and above.
5) Where can I download the latest version of Microsoft's Internet Explorer?
You may do so from by following the links on Microsoft's Windows Update Page here.
6) How do I input other languages in my URL/e-mail address bar?
To be able to type in other languages, you will require an input method. Windows 2000 has an in-built input method that comes with the installation of the language pack.
If you are using Windows 98, you will require a separate input method such as NJStar, which is available for download at www.NJStar.com.
