Note for Windows 2000 users
You will need to ensure that a correct system locale is selected. For example, if you wish to enter a Japanese domain name, your system locale should be set to "Japanese". For instructions on how to edit/check your system locale, please read here.
Microsoft's IME for Windows 2000 does not work with Netscape 4.7x when the system locale is set to "English". You may use another input software to enter the native characters but they might not be rendered properly.
Note for Windows NT users
Microsoft's IME for Windows NT works with Internet Explorer 5.x. However, characters in the URL are not rendered properly. They appear as question marks(?).
Microsoft's IME for Windows NT does not work with Netscape 4.7x If you use Netscape 4.7x on Windows NT, please use another input software such as NJStar.
Note for Windows 98 (English) users
Microsoft's Input Method Editor (IME) for English Windows 98 is not designed to input multilingual characters into the URL bar (It works fine for the Office suite of applications but not the URL bar). To successfully enter multilingual characters into the URL bar, please use another input software such as NJStar.
Note for Windows 95 users
If you are not using Windows 95 SR2, you will need to upgrade your Winsock. If you encounter this error message: "A required .DLL file, WS2_32.DLL, was not found", please find an upgrade patch at Microsoft's product page here. Similar problem with IME as Windows 98.
